VKK Power is building a 20 MW carbon-neutral heat plant powered by biofuels in Kempele.
The delivery includes two 10 MW biomass boilers, flue gas heat recovery, and a thermal accumulator. Heat production will start in autumn 2025. Oulun Seudun Sähkö has purchased district heating from Oulun Energia, and from the beginning of 2026, almost all district heating in Kempele will be produced by the new bioheat plant.
